About Us
Jardine Johnstone is a specialist environmental and planning consultancy based in coastal Victoria, led by Chris Johnstone — an environmental horticulturist, arborist, and planning consultant with more than thirty years of experience in vegetation assessment, landscape design, and land use planning across Victoria.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Environmental Horticulture and Arboriculture from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Environment and Planning from RMIT University. His professional background spans local government planning and arboricultural roles, and private sector consulting on environmental and planning matters across urban, rural, and coastal areas.
Operating across Bass Coast, Mornington Peninsula, Cardinia, Casey, South Gippsland, and surrounding regions, Jardine Johnstone provides a rare combination of environmental expertise and planning insight. This dual focus enables clients to navigate complex planning processes with confidence — whether they require planning guidance, arboricultural impact assessments, tree management reports, environmental assessments, or landscape plans to support a planning submission.
Chris’s work is grounded in an enduring interest in the natural environment and the role of vegetation in urban and peri-urban landscapes. His detailed understanding of indigenous and Australian native plants, together with decades of consulting experience, informs a practical and balanced approach that aligns development goals with environmental responsibility.
At Jardine Johnstone, each project is guided by a commitment to clarity, professionalism, and environmental integrity — helping clients achieve planning success while protecting and enhancing the landscapes that define coastal and regional Victoria.
